February 4, 2002
Finally I had time and a clear night for imaging Jupiter and Saturn. The weather has made this opposition very difficult.
March 6, 2001
Some imaging of Jupiter and the gibbous moon tonight.
February 27, 2001
Did some imaging - got the end of the Ganymede Transit tonight plus a new image of Venus just before dark.
February 24, 2001
The site was getting unruly again so I did another re-vamp of some of the pages.
CCD Imaging - I broke CCD images out of all planetary pages and consolidated them. Took the CCD page apart into lots of smaller pages to decrease the load time on this one, it was huge. Added stand-alone pages for the Transit of Io from 12/07/00 and Transit of Euorpa from 2/13/01. Also created stand-alone page on Planetary Image Processing.
35mm Photography - did the same thing with my 35mm pictures, broke up the Astrophotograpy page into small pages to decrease load times and share pages with the Lunar and Solar pages.
Anyway, lots of changes but I hope that the site navigation is better and than page-load times go down a bit.
February 23, 2001
New images of Jupiter and Venus. I went out to shoot the transit of Io but the clouds rolled in about 10 minutes before it began. Got some images just before the shadow transit started.

Transit of Europa - frames and video
February 12, 2001
It cleared up in Seattle over the weekend but I was busy each nice night. Finally got out last night for some imaging of Jupiter and Saturn.
January 28, 2001
Good weather the last three nights with very good seeing the last two. Got images of Jupiter, Saturn, and even Venus.
January 23, 2001
The first clear night when I wasn't busy and it turns out to be windy as heck. I caught Io going into occultation and managed a few images in the bad seeing.
January 9, 2001
It has been cloudy in Seattle for quite a while. It cleared up a bit last night with a full-moon so I managed to shoot a few images of Jupiter.
December 31, 2000
It has been cloudy much of the month or I've been out of town. Got some imaging done on 12/11 and 12/31 of Jupiter. Otherwise did some observing in San Diego where there seem to be no clouds.
December 7, 2000
Great imaging session last night of a Transit of Io with the GRS also present. Grabbed one hour worth of images and created a time-lapsed video as well as a series of images. Consistently good imaging throughout the time. Removed my old animation which just wasn't any good.
December 5, 2000
Got some great images of Jupiter with the GRS in transit tonight, also imaged Saturn. I re-did the Jupiter page quite a bit and combined last month's images into a single composite image. Added a look at processing from tonight's images, very interesting to see.
November 28, 2000
Some Jupiter and Saturn imaging last night. Got my best shot yet of Jupiter created by stacking 10 frames together using AstroStack, a new piece of software I just discovered.
November 27, 2000
Last clear night was November 22nd and I did some Jupiter imaging. Added a time-lapse animation of 1/2 a rotation showing the Great Red Spot.
November 20, 2000
Amazingly enough it has still been clear for a few days with clouds starting to roll in. New Jupiter and Lunar imaging available.
November 17, 2000
New Jupiter images from the last two nights, got my best yet on the 16th. A great new Saturn image from that night too. New Solar pictures for the past month also added.
November 15, 2000
Lots of changes to the site to cut down on number and size of image files. Re-vamped the Solar System page to be a menu and added new Solar and Lunar pages. Updated Jupiter, Saturn, and CCD Imaging pages to reflect new image store. Got some great images of Jupiter last night, these are now on the Jupiter page and are the best images I've gotten to date. New Jupiter drawings too.
Also, added my Astrophotography Exposure Calculator - a Win32 application to calculate exposures for solar, lunar, and planetary astrophotography.
November 14, 2000
Clear skies this morning but I got up too late to image Jupiter though I did view the GRS at transit before it hit the tree line. I did manage to get some CCD images of the moon through the 7" Mak.
November 12, 2000
A few clear but very cold evenings recently with a full moon lighting up the whole sky. Did some imaging two nights of Jupiter and one night of Saturn. See the CCD Page or the Jupiter and Saturn pages for the images.
It finally cleared up last night for a Star Party at the local elemetary school where tons of kids and parents got to see the moon, the Double Cluster, and Saturn before clouds moved in. Luckily at midnight it cleared off and I got out for a few hours of imaging of Jupiter and Saturn. See the CCD Page or the Jupiter and Saturn pages for the images.
October 30, 2000
Its been cloudy except for last night so I got in a bit of observing before the clouds moved back in. Much work in re-organizing the web-site though has taken place. I updated the CCD Imaging page quite a bit, it now has thumbnails of all shots leading to the full-sized shot. I also started the Caldwell Quest to view the Caldwell objects and began a page on that.
More good weather in Seattle. I did some CCD Imaging of Jupiter and Saturn this morning, had at least one shot of Jupiter that I decided to post, I need work here. Also revamped drawing section of Jupiter for more consistency.
Added more solar photography and a new moon shot from earlier in the month. This time I used color film and got pretty good results. My attempts at 35mm photopgraphy of Jupiter and Saturn were, however, total failures.
We've had some more clearing in the early morning hours which has gotten me out observing Jupiter. I've been doing so much with Jupiter that it now merits its own page, check out the Jupiter Observing page with the latest drawings. Saturn also has its own page, see the Saturn Observing page. Part of the re-org changed the Solar System Page too, it will probably be broken out even further in the future.
Film going in for development, new photos should be coming soon. I've got more solar, lunar, and hopefully some planetary photos.
It has cleared up again in Seattle and the M's are winning in the series against Chicago - miracles do happen in October. Did some solar photography yesterday and got up early today for viewing. Viewed Io's shadow and the Great Red Spot this morning on Jupiter, see new drawings.
Solar photos for 9/24-9/25 are now in, including an eyepiece projection of sunspot 9169.
One more clear day, the rain is suppossed to come tomorrow.
Viewed Io crossing Jupiter this morning. The shadow was very close to the Great Red Spot which also transited in the early morning hours. See new drawings.
Solar photos for 9/22-9/23 are now in.
Still clear in Seattle. Viewed Ganymede coming out of occultation this morning, added drawing. Sunspot 9169 has been of big interest, and is changing quite a bit these last few days. I've been drawing and photographing it daily. Should have photos coming soon.
Brought old web-site back to life. Added info on new scope, began adding new solar system images/drawings. Hopefully the site starts getting more regular updates. Added some new links for LX-50 sites.
The weather has been picture perfect (and observing perfect) in Seattle for a few days now. This means getting up early to observe Jupiter and Saturn as well as some mid-day Solar observing. Sun-spot activity is on the rise, photos coming soon.
Added Celestron C5 Web-Ring
