Solar 35mm Photography

 

September 2000 

The Sun has been very active in September of 2000 as we approach a sunspot maximum.  There have been several large solar flares that are causing auroras on earth and several large sunspot groups.  The Big Bear Solar Observatory has up to date pictures on all the activity. 

Here is sunspot 9169.   I glimpsed it on Sept. 21st but clouds kept me from getting photos.  I have been shooting it from the 22nd to the 27th.  Here is a series of the activity:

October saw a slow-down in spots though there were still quite a few small spots on the disk.
