DEVELOPMENT LEAD - DESKTOP FINANCE DIVISION. Responsible for development of online banking and bill-pay technology for the Microsoft Money product, release years 97 - 2000. Involved working on a new software architecture for online banking using the Internet and open standards. Developed the Open Financial Connectivity (OFC) protocol on top of the HTTP protocol for online banking in Money starting with Money 97 and implemented much of the actual internet communications code for the product. In subsequent releases worked on the Open Financial Exchange (OFX) protocol in conjunction with Intuit Corp. and CheckFree to do online banking, bill-pay, brokerage services and bill-presentment. Also worked on support for gathering stock quote data, exchange rates, tax rates, news headlines, etc.. in the Money product, and on Internet security for financial data. Lead a team of 3-7 developers throughout my position with this group.

DEVELOPMENT LEAD - CONSUMER DIVISION. Responsible for developing the MSHome On-Line WWW and MSN sites for the Cross Division Marketing Group. Responsibilities incleded setup and maintenance of the Consumer Division WWW Test Server, consulting to product groups to get Web pages and MSN forums running and developing the MSHome WWW Site and MSN Forum. Did HTML coding, custom SQL queries through the ODBC gateway for registration, and MSNView title creation. Worked with PM and Marketing to refine business plan for the team (which cancelled the project).

DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - CONSUMER DIVISION. Responsible for managing development and test team for the Sports product unit within the Consumer Division. This involves line management responsibilities for four tio five developers and two to four testers as well as project responsibility for all products within the product unit. In the past year the group shipped Microsoft Complete Baseball in May 1994, Microsoft Complete NBA Basketball in Oct. 1994, and Microsoft Complete Baseball Guide in March 1995. I handled all scheduling and task assignments for development and test as well as doing coordination with program management, production and marketing. I was also personally responsible for the design and coding of the on-line component of each product and was responsible for design and prototyping of other on-line efforts involving The Microsoft Network and the Internet. I specified, managed and helped develop the Microsoft HomeZone Site for the World Wide Web in conjunction with cross division marketing. From March thru the June 1995 I was acting Product Unit Manager for the entire product unit, managing all development, test, program management, design and production. From December until July I worked on the Microsoft/The Sporting News On-line Sports Service for MSN and the Internet which was canceled in July 1995. Also working part-time on Complete Basketball Guide 1995 due to ship in August 1995.

TECHNICAL LEAD - MULTIMEDIA SYSTEMS DIVISION. Responsible for managing a development team which designed and implemented the Video for Windows (VfW) and Audio Compression Manager (ACM) extensions to the Windows operating system. Involved line responsibility for a team of five to seven developers along with product responsibility for VfW 1.0, the VfW Development Kit, and the VfW 1.1. Product work involved design of the product; directing development; coordinating with program management, test, marketing and user ed.; and actual development work on the VfW tools and VfW Development Kit.

Volunteer Work
Project ASTRO - I taught astronomy to elementary students for 3 years at Christa McAuliffe Elementary and 2 years at Alcott Elementary, both in Redmond, WA. I worked in the classroom 1 day a month plus extra activities such as star parties, planetarium visits, etc… I was a member of the Project ASTRO consortium and worked with fund-raising for the local Seattle project.
