Finally, some variety in my diet

Real food for once

Real food for once

It has been a little over a month now on my baby food diet.  It started out pretty basic but in the last few weeks has expanded somewhat and that has been great.   First though, we moved in the middle of all this GI mess which is something I would not recommend.  Between the general stress of moving and the amount of activity needed for the move I managed to drop three more precious pounds during the week of the move.  Once we got through the big push I’ve been trying to take it easy, rest more, and shove in more calories than I’m expending each day.  The rest and a bit of added fats have helped and I managed to put back on 1.5 pounds in the last three days.

The other good news is that over the last few days I seem to be able to handle fats better than previous attempts at adding them into my diet.  I made real chicken thighs into soup and had some of that each night along with my turkey burger crumbles and Kitchen Basics broth with no problem.  Finally, something non ground even though the thighs were cooked down to fibers in the slow cooker.  Last night I had a fish fillet too which  was great, starting with no-fat mahi and will work my way up to eating some fatty salmon.  I’ve also been cooking my eggs in ghee and have gone from 1/2 to 1 tsp each morning for that.   I added avocado a few days ago too, starting with 1/8 of one and moving up to 1/4 of one in an omelet this morning.   Tried almond milk again the last few days for the third time this month and so far so good with that too.

My gut does seem on the mend a bit so now we are dealing with a few other issues that have come up.   After the Xifaxan/Neomycin nightmare in February I started having intermittent numbness in my feet on the bottom of the toes and my forefoot pad.  In the last few weeks this has turned into pretty much continuous numbness.  We tried B12 shots and that had no effect, also tested for B12 and I was fine.  Maybe the B12 cleared up my tinnitus though, that seems to have gone away.  So, it looks like there is some other deficiency or an autoimmune or neurological problem that is causing the numbness.  I had a bunch of blood drawn today to start looking further into this.  Just what I need, another thing on top of the GI problems but they are all interconnected I’m sure.
